Description

BATSfest, the spring weekend Argentine tango festival at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park, just outside Bridport, Dorset, continues and builds on Tango Bridport & Weymouth’s earlier popular and successful Argentine tango events.

We’re very pleased to have Veronica Toumanova and Benjamin Solano join us once again to lead a course of progressive format workshops focusing on tango technique and on the complementary roles of follower and leader. This runs to 7.5 hours and includes both leader and follower dedicated specialist workshops. There's also over 16 hours of practíca time for you to build on and reinforce your understanding of what you've learned from Vero and Ben. Both tutors are very highly regarded as Argentine tango teachers – check out our website for what people say about them and how impressed they are with their approach and support (and watch some more videos): tangodorset.org.uk/BATSfest

But it’s not just a weekend festival of workshops, practíca time and the opportunity of private tuition, important though all those are. There are three evening milongas and on the Saturday morning Veronica will be signing her recently published book of essays on Argentine tango, Why Tango – copies will be available in the hall for you to buy. Later on Saturday there’s what promises to be a fascinating lecture by Veronica, Tango, from theory to practice. And to help you relax and to tone tired muscles from all that activity we’ll have specialist therapists present – Cathy Towers offering Zero Balancing therapy and Tanya Grafton offering Russian/Swedish massage. You’ll find more information here on the workshops and other events over the weekend.

Earlybird booking gives you 20% off the standard ticket prices - don't lose out by missing that! You can book and pay on line or in other ways but again, because of interest in the event, don't leave it too late and miss out on a great dancing, learning and theatre experience. And because there are generous cancellation options if you suddenly find you can't go you can book without risk.

The event is nearly full but as of now we have space for two more couples and one, possibly two, single followers for the full event pass - price held to £109.00 per person for everything - a very generous discount on the total price for the individual elements. Don't miss out!

We're privileged to have Benjamin Solano join us as DJ for tomorrow's milonga, Friday 15 19.30-23.30 at the Town Hall, Bridport, DT6 3LF. Benjamin has been DJing for some five years and is well regarded in his native France and elsewhere in Europe as someone with an extraordinary knowledge and depth of understanding of tango music.

"My role is to ensure that the energy created by the music takes the dancers somewhere emotional" explains Benjamin. "My aim for a successful milonga is simple - has everyone had as good an evening dancing as is possible, has everyone reached this emotional place naturally?"

Because of this experience Benjamin can bring come and judge for yourself.
