Description
Ten years ago, we decided to invite all our milonguero friends to join us in order to celebrate the world’s first Encuentro of milonguero tango.
It’s dizzying to think of all that has happened since that time. It’s interesting to think about the first Encuentro in 2007 and how it has changed and metamorphosed with respect to the tango itself, as well as the local and international communities of milonguero tango. Today the scene is different; we ourselves are different, as well as Argentina and the entire world.
The questions we might ask ourselves are: ‘Are we dancing better?’ ‘Are we teaching better?’ Many of those who just began dancing ten years ago are now weathered tangueros. Those who were already advanced at that time are now teaching around the world.
Many of the great maestros and milongueros that were the inspiration for our classes and for the first Encuentro are no longer with us on the dance floors. And we deeply feel their loss in the milongas of Buenos Aires.
But 10 years of Milongueando, 10 years of searching and investigating new pedagogical ideas, are a great reason to celebrate, because we have grown, because we are still here, because the tango in 2016 is “alive and kicking”! And that deserves to be celebrated.
This year we invite you to celebrate our Tenth Anniversary with us. The Academia, our assistants and instructors are busy planning the festivities to make this year’s Encuentro an unforgettable event.
